Cutting the Celebration Cake

Burpengary Probus Club Celebrates Probus 50 years in Australia Anniversary.

40 members of our Burpengary Probus Club celebrated the beginning of Probus in Australia with a luncheon and presentation.

Our celebration was held at the Central Tavern Bistro in Burpengary where the tables were beautifully decorated with colourful centre pieces and the 50th Anniversary logo’s standing in port glasses. Our President, Allen Collishaw, welcomed all present and explained the importance of the Hunters Hill Probus Club in NSW as it was the first Probus Club in Australia and celebrated its 50th Anniversary on 3 February 2026.

A slide show of most of our Club’s activities for the last 5 years was presented which concluded with the Probus Quote: “For fifty years, Probus has been about connection, friendship and community. While the world has changed, the importance of people coming together has not”.

Our guest speaker was Mr Leon Misfeld, who is the International Service Director at Caboolture Rotary Club and who was also the Rotary Representative when the Club was first chartered. Leon wrote a poem for the occasion. Allen Presented certificates to the Club’s management team followed by cutting of the Celebration Cake and a toast to Hunters Hill Club and Probus South Pacific for a marvellous 50 years. A great time was had by all.
