Carseldine Probus Club
Carseldine celebrates Probus’ 50th Anniversary. Today at our monthly Carseldine Probus Club monthly meeting we also marked a significant milestone for Probus in Australia as we celebrated 50 years since its inception on the 3rd of February 1976.
It was truly a wonderful occasion to celebrate with 53 fellow Carseldine Probians and visitors which also included some of our foundation members, Len and Dorothy, being with our club since its launch on the 9th April 1990. Members were encouraged to mark this special occasion by wearing clothing from 50 years ago or wearing clothes in Probus colours Blue/Gold - Yellow, eating cake cut into 50 pieces and viewing a PowerPoint presentation of photos of activities and members over the years.
We also marked the importance of this day by taking part in various activities such as what do you know about Probus Background. For example, the Probus Club movement was formed in the United Kingdom in 1965. The Probus movement had its beginnings in two clubs, both created by members of Rotary. We even had the opportunity to go back 50 years with wall posters on display showing the foods and drinks, fashion and even the music at that time. To top things off Elvis Presley was also in the house on this nostalgic day.
A special thank you to Wendy and everyone who contributed to mark this fun day possible.
